This past week Hubby, the kids, and I all went up to our family cottage for the first time ever. It has been a labour of love (and sometimes hate!) over the past 4 years trying to get it built, and we’re finally almost done. It’s still a work in progress but all the necessities are in place. And it was SO great to finally be up there!!!
When we arrived the cottage road had been plowed by the city the first 2km in, but we had to hire someone and wait 2 hours for him to come and plow us the final 2km in from the cow gate.
We had a revolving door of visitors from our Ottawa crew an hour away and sleeping arrangements were a bit of a gong show, but we made it work because that’s what you do at the cottage.
Our crew of friends has done A LOT of cottaging in this region at the cottages of friends and family, so much so that we’re affectionately referred to as “The Cottage Crashers”. I’ve never been up in the winter time though. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. We will have to work on some winter activities, but for this weekend we did manage to find a great tobogganing hill right on our property.
Now that we have our own place we won’t lose membership to The Cottage Crashers will we? I hope not!
Until next time!
