BabyGirl had her first food (other than boob ;) on Saturday and she ate it like a champ! She did way better than the boys did and we actually started her the earliest. They say you can start foods anywhere between 4-6 months but we’ve always erred on the later side starting the boys at 6 and 6.5 months, and BabyGirl at 5 months/22 weeks… On a side note I had to actually look up how many weeks old she is! Just one of those things that is dramatically different between your 3rd and your 1st baby where you could immediately tell someone how many hours and minutes old they were… So anyway, just like with the boys we started with the traditional rice cereal (remember Pablum? Did you know that was a Canadian invention?) and she loved it! She swallowed every bite right from the very first mouthful! My big girl ❤ It has been 4 days now and everyday I’ve upped the amount by half a tablespoon and everyday she has finished it all…but still hasn’t gone back to sleeping through the night. I know rice cereal is not a magic solution, but a small part of me was hopeful! I think we’ve hit the right amount though using 2.5 tablespoons of the powder mixed with water, served at our dinner time, because yesterday and today she didn’t want to breastfeed after and skipped that feeding altogether.
Tomorrow at lunch we will start peaches. I learned the hard way from my 1st that if you don’t get some laxative fruits going pretty quickly that rice cereal can wreak havoc on their poor little digestive systems!
I can’t wait to see how much she likes peaches!
